Spiritually infused pop and folk/country

My first memory is hanging on to my father’s leg after a church service. I looked up, and it wasn’t my father. I started crying, and everyone laughed.

When I was in school to become a psychotherapist, I did an assignment about first memories and what they mean.  I decided that was the beginning of my fear that people were going to laugh at me.  (I’m not at all sure that’s true, but it sounded good for my assignment.)

Fear of looking like a fool is a disaster for singer songwriter wannabes.  But sometimes you love something so much, you just have to do it.

So, I became a singer songwriter in my early 20s.  Fifty years later (yes, 50!), I don’t worry quite as much about looking like a fool.  That’s because it’s happened so many times in my life, I eventually became desensitized to it (mostly).

My first songs were about – what else – romance! Most of them were pretty terrible.  But as I matured, my songs matured.  Now that I’m super uber mature (old), I find myself writing songs about the spiritual aspects of life and love.

It’s an interesting word, spirituality.  What does it really mean?  I think of it as focusing from your spirit or soul as opposed to focusing from your ego. This has done wonders for my sense of well-being.

It’s easier to become more spiritual as you age, but I’ve been working at this since I was 15 and went through a major clinical depression.  Yeah, I’ve been doing this spiritual thing for a very long time.

If you’re looking for a different angle on life, a perspective that gives you some peace, maybe some joy to boot, I hope you'll listen to my songs. And while you're at it, please sign up for my mailing list. You'll get my new songs before they hit the platforms.

Basic bio? I'm an Atlanta native and now live in Greenville, SC. I'm a retired psychotherapist. For more bio details, go here.
